Excerpt from Transactions of the Medical Association of Georgia: Forty-Eight Annual Session, 1897
The Association met in the Academy of Music, and was called to order by the President, Dr. Geo. H. Noble, of Atlanta, at 10 a.m.
Divine blessing was invoked by the Rev. F. M. Reese, of Christ Church.
At the conclusion of the prayer, Dr. W. F. Holt, in behalf of the resident members of the Association, delivered the following
Address of Welcome.
Mr. President, Ladies and Gentlemen of the Medical Association:
As the representative of the Macon Medical Society and in behalf of the Committee of Arrangements, the pleasing duty has devolved upon me of extending to you a cordial and hearty welcome to our city and our homes. In this welcome there is a depth of meaning more significant even than that usually extended by the hospitality of this city of ours to her visiting friends, for the city of Macon claims the proud distinction of being the birthplace of the Medical Association of Georgia.
