Excerpt from Cost Accounts With Special Reference to Those of an Engineer and Ironfounder
This Book is a revised Second Edition of one published after being read, in two parts, as a "Paper," before the Sheffield Chartered Accountants Students' Society in 1900 and 1901.
The title denotes "specialisation," rather than "generalisation," but as similar principles have to be applied to all "Cost" Accounts, whatever the nature of the business, it is to be hoped that the perusal of the following pages will be found useful not only to those associated with Engineering and Ironfounding, but also to Practitioners, Students, and all who are interested in, or who may be called upon to design or carry out a system of, Cost Accounts in connection with any other business.
Since it was first written, Loose-Leaf Ledgers and Card Systems have proved to be useful in certain cases, and a special chapter has been added on the Card System generally, and as applied to Engineering and Foundry Costs.
Though I by no means profess to have dealt fully with the subject, if the previous demand for the work is an indication of its usefulness, the labour bestowed has not been in vain.
