Excerpt from Historical Pocket Library, Vol. 2 of 6
Be it remembered, That on the first day of September, A.D. 1818, and in the forty-third year of the Independence of the United States of America, Munroe and Francis, of the said District, have deposited in this office the title of a Book, the right whereof they claim as proprietors, in the words following, to wit:
"Historical Pocket Library: five volumes: consisting of, I. Heathen Mythology, II. Ancient History, III. Grecian History, IV. Roman History, V. History of England. The whole forming a new, moral, and comprehensive System of Historical Information, for the Amusement and Instruction of the Young, particularly adapted for the use o Academies, Boarding Schools, and the perusal of all who wish to acquire a knowledge of the above important and interesting subjects."
In conformity to the Act of the Congress of the United States, entitled "An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of Maps, Charts, and Books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the time therein mentioned:" and also to an, Act entitled, "An supplementary to an Act, entitled An Act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned: and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical, and other prints."
