Excerpt from The Botany of the Kimberleys, Northwest Australia
To the east of the King Leopold Ranges, looking from Mount Broome, the country in configuration consists of ranges and tablelands, with undulations, and extensive plains intervening, besides isolated mountains which rise above the surrounding country like islands from an ocean. The whole are intersected by numerous watercourses which, during the wet season, carry huge volumes of water, and always contain large permanent pools, or are running in part throughout the whole year.
