Are ghosts real? Twelve year old William Katt, better known as Cat, has his doubts, but he is about to find out. His summer starts when he has to attend a funeral on Vancouver Island. Cat invites his best friend Frenchie along to help investigate their latest Y-file (Why? File). The island's coastline is known as the 'Graveyard of the Pacific', with a shipwreck for every mile. That's a lot of sunken ships, a lot of drowned sailors. Maybe a lot of ghosts? His cousin Jimmy Rask, who lives in Victoria, tells Cat he has seen a ghost. And furthermore, Jimmy has an old letter written in 1858 by a boy who went missing. A ship's boy. The letter refers to a map the boy drew which may solve his disappearance.
