Excerpt from Quiet Talks With the Family
Paul could not write to his friend Philemon without sending greetings to the other christians who were in the habit of meeting for christian worship beneath his roof. We learn from his letter to the Romans that Prisca and Aquila also had a church in their house, and no doubt in every city in which the christian religion had taken root, homes were thrown open for the use of believers. Throughout the first century and the second also, there were no special buildings for churches.
