Excerpt from The Progress of Physics, During 33 Years (1875-1908)
In writing out these lectures which were delivered nearly three years ago, I have made a few additions, in order to bring the subjects to their position at the present time. Personal opinions have been influenced in some cases by subsequent researches or by maturer reflexion. All such expressions of opinion must therefore be considered as indicating my present attitude rather than that taken up at the time of the lectures. Their scope and aim has been sufficiently indicated in the opening passages.
