The book is a collection of poems dealing with various themes, emotions and mental states, the overarching, unifying idea being sadness. There is negative sadness, the kind that is usually associated with some kind of traumatic experience; the kind that makes one shun the world at large. However, there is also positive sadness, the kind that makes one get out of a seemingly hopeless situation; the kind that rejuvenates the mind toward better possibilities. In both cases, the need and desire to overcome oneself is readily apparent. The poems aspire to highlight these instances.
