On the mythical island of Lapis Lazuli, brothers Thand and Eschon discover Princess Sharman, the lone survivor of a plundered ship. Their family shelters her, and in return, she secretly teaches them to read and write - an education expressly forbidden by the tyrannical ruler of the island, Lord Creedy.
