Cissy is the story of a mother"s desperate attempt to understand and halt the deterioration of her child"s early normal development. The lack of a definitive diagnosis at prestigious hospitals in Texas, Colorado, Arizona and California failed to provide answers and the educational help she sought. Cissy was 21 before she was declared autistic; yet the classic definition did not describe her condition fully.
