Eustace Hale Ball (1881-1931) worked in the early movie business as a scenario editor, staff playwright and director for numerous movie companies. He wrote the "photoplay" for the 1912 silent-era Robin Hood. This 1915 guide to writing for film includes a list of "purchasing and producing film companies."
