The work at hand contains the oldest extant marriage records for Greene and Oglethorpe counties. The marriage records are arranged by county and, thereunder, alphabetically by the names of the bridegrooms. Most entries give the names of the bride and groom, the date of the marriage, and the name of the officiating minister. The volume preserves the records of about 7,000 marriages, which are roughly divided between Greene and Oglethorpe, and names some 15,000 people in all.
