Christian Dior: Man of the Century

Christian Dior... Man ot the Century was not only edited to celebrate the centenary of the couturier"s birth but to introduce the reader into the world of Dior. To achieve this we have put Christian Dior"s own words "Christian Dioretmoi", the autobiography published in 1956 which explores the worlds of the couturier Christian Dior and his private persona. We have also added the compilation of articles first published in book form as " Je suis couturier". The numerous illustrations come from the Christian Dior Museum collection and the Christian Dior archives, to which we have added photographs of the prestigious loans made to the Museum for the Centenary Exhibition, the main exhibits of which, relating to fashion, perfume and art, are illustrated in this catalogue. The first chapter is a guide to the continuous presence of Christian Dior, through the Rhumbs, garden and museum evocative of couture and perfume, an artist"s period house. We believe this book will be, in Christian Dior"s own words, the reference to the couturier"s genius and the spirit of his childhood home.
