The 265 colour photographs: castles and chateaux, natural areas of outstanding beauty, the pilgrimage and town conservation areas of the Czech Land, Moravia and Silesia, serve not only to illustrate but also to document the rich history of this central European state. An integral part of this publication is the capital city of Prague, for eleven centuries the centre of the Czech state, whose history, both glorious and tragic, mirrors too the history of the whole country.
