Vesta Tilley was a remarkable woman. Born in Worcester in 1864, the second oldest child of thirteen, she started her performing career at the age of three and went on to be one of the greatest stars of the Music Hall, always appearing on stage dressed as a man. She was a major star on both sides of the Atlantic, becoming very wealthy in the process. She performed at the first ever Royal Variety Performance at which the Queen covered her eyes in embarrasment at the way Vesta was dressed. When she retired from "the boards", she was presented with a thank-you petition signed by nearly two million people. "Vesta" is a one-woman show about Vesta Tilley. It includeds 12 of her songs and goes to the very heart of both the woman and the performer. It is a fascinating rags-to-riches story about one of the least-known entertainment "megastars" this country has ever produced. Это и многое другое вы найдете в книге Vesta (Chris Jaeger)
