Major William Evander Penn (1832-1895) was a Texan Baptist evangelist and well known minister who travelled all over Texas and even in Europe. His visit of castles in Europe inspired him to build a castle of his own in 1888. Marilla, his wife, and he stayed in the castle some 15 years. "Penn castle" was featured on the HG TV show "If Walls Could Talk". His Works include: There is No Harm in Dancing (1884).
