The Princess of Skye, an Archer Adventure Katharine Giles

Archer has reached the point in time when he has to tell Pacion whether he"s going to stay in Balycon or go home to California. If he delays one more day, he won"t be able to leave the underwater kingdom. His attention is diverted from this urgent decision when an ambassador arrives from the Kingdom of Skye and requests his help. Archer finds it difficult to believe that someone with the ability to travel through time and space would travel all this way to seek the assistance of a 14-year old kid. He"s told that crystal masters on other planets have watched him develop his skills since his arrival in Balycon and he"s the only one who can complete the required task. When he asks what he"s supposed to do, he"s told he"ll learn the answer to that question after he arrives in Skye. His love of adventure and desire to help others makes the invitation more than he can resist. He accompanies the ambassador to Skye where he learns he"s to rescue the king"s daughter from King Ichos, the tyrant king of Water. But he has to do more than negotiate the release of the princess. Before Ichos will meet him Archer is required to complete a series of tests designed to keep him from his goal. Skye"s crystal master is allowed to give him five maps of five planets in Skye"s galaxy -- Ferro a desolate land with an active volcano, Velda, the home of prehistoric monsters, Luxor, an impenetrable jungle, Akro, the land of ice and Mycan, the garden planet. When he asks what he"s supposed to do at each location, the crystal master tells him he has to look for a guidepost, interpret its clue and use his skills to complete the task without assistance. He cautions Archer if he gives up and quits before completing any test, he will fail them all. Because he has to face the challenges alone, King Zirco presents Archer with a unique gift designed to enhance his skills and help him through the tests. During his travels, Archer discovers each test is more difficult and dangerous than the last. Every time he can"t find a guidepost or figure out a puzzle he fights his frustration and continues on. His journeys through the maps let him understand the reason Water"s ruler is called a tyrant king. The examples of his cruelty to Skye"s people fuel Archer"s determination to free the Princess of Skye no matter what Ichos can throw at him. But like everything else Archer has experienced during his stay in the realm of the immortals, things aren"t always what they seem.
