The work of Gianni Veneziano - a young architect who took his university degree in Florence, trained in Chicago and made a name for himself in Milan, and now continues his work in Molfetta - can be taken as an emblematic case of the unexpected developments and turbulences that have agitated the panorama of the designing of spaces and objects in this end of the century. In Veneziano"s work, the primary characters of a situation in frenetic mutation can be recognized. But, above all, one discerns the conditions in which a contemporary designer must operate, first and foremost being the loss of the sense of the traditional polarity between "form" and "function", which marks the definitive departure of the 1900s. Committed to patient and rigorous research, and maintaining a parsimonious level of production, Gianni Veneziano has built his design methodology on an essentially dynamic base, in which every aspect of his objects simultaneously expresses identity and alteration. This has lead him to a deepened reflection on structures, which has, in turn, led him to experiment with a kind of geometric minimalism meant to define a new relationship between objects and architectural space.
