In the 1970"s, Mr. Donald Steele was working on the house next to the Wisconsin Governor"s home in Madison. Patrick Lucey was Governor at the time - 1971-1977, The mansion was having some remodeling. The workmen were working with several areas and there were piles of papers waiting to be dumped in the dumpster. Mr. Steele noticed this book on the pile, and thought it looked interesting. He took it home, and a long time later, decided to read it. At Muskets and Memories he talked to some of the re-enactors at the G.A.R. Hall in Boscobel, Wisconsin, and they encouraged him to give it to the Hall. The President and Secretary/Treasurer of the Boscobel Grand Army of the Republic Hall Preservationist, Inc. asked me to reproduce the book to be available for putchase. All profits will go to the Boscobel G.A.R. Hall Civil War Museum. The Madison Historical Society in Madison, Wisconsin has an original copy of this book.
