In 1768, Patrick Henry defended Lewis Craig"s freedoms of speech and religion in the courthouse in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 1781, still seeking these freedoms, Lewis Craig and the Traveling Church traveled from Spottsylvania Virginia, through the Cumberland Gap to Keene, Kentucky. The Craig and Singleton families endured many hardships, to reach their goals. In 1848, the Singletons moved on to Austin, Texas, traveling by riverboat and wagons. This story is part of my family"s history. They were a courageous group, whose spirits were determined and unflagging..
