This is a Master"s thesis which is a quantitative study of state-to-state migration flows in the U.S. under a framework of institutional economics and creativity. It establishes several models with migration data from the Internal Revenue Service during the 2004-2008 as the dependent variable. Independent variables include measures for institutional freedom and creativity (ranked by state), distance, population, climate, crime rates, education levels, and others. SPSS was used to conduct multivariate statistical analysis. The results show that institutional freedom and creativity are significant predictors of migration flows.
