Fouling which involves the accumulation of unwanted material on solid surfaces is a significant problem in a wide range of industries. This book investigates the application of the PlasmaStream™ atmospheric plasma jet system to deposit novel anti-fouling coatings. The book consists of eight chapters which could be categorised into three major sections. Firstly, the use of plasma polymerised primer to achieve up to 15-fold enhancement in the adhesion of anti-fouling silicone elastomers to steel is reported. Secondly, the anti-fouling performances of atmospheric plasma deposited superhydrophobic Nano coatings, evaluated both in the laboratory, and in industrial processes are detailed. A new ultrasonic abrasion technique, developed for evaluating the mechanical performance of these Nano coatings is also reported in this section.
