Hector West prefers the online world of the post-apocalyptic game Omega Wars over real life. There, through his character, Izaak Ersatz, Hector can be himself, with no one telling him where he can go or who he can hang out with, and most importantly, without the harsh reality of death - a reality he knows only too well after his father was killed in Iraq. When Izaak is robbed by a gamer known only by the screen name Mal-X, Hector abandons his usual questing and assembles his on-line friends to find the cheater and take revenge. But after Hector discovers that Mal-X and his clan aren't gamers at all, the virtual world turns deadly in real life, and the race is on to stop Mal-X and his evil plan before the apocalypse of Omega Wars becomes a reality.
