Of late years the public conscience has been stirred, and none too soon, to a sense of the dangers, moral and physical, involved in the overcrowded and squalid life of the working multitudes in our great cities; and thoughtful men are becoming unanimously of opinion that for our national well-being it is imperative that the conditions of this life should be altered without longer delay, and no reforms are more urgent than those that deal with the upbringing of the young.
