Excerpt from Wisconsin Normal Schools, 1901: Proceedings of an Institute of the Faculties of the Normal Schools
To the Board of Regents of Normal Schools:
Gentlemen: The Special Committee charged with the management of the Institute of Teachers recently held at Oshkosh, herein presents a compilation of the Papers and Discussions submitted. The work of selecting and editing the mass of matter which was gathered, has been no less delicate than laborious, and such delay as has occurred in putting the manuscript to press, is due to a desire to compile a volume of the most value possible, as well as one fairly representative of the schools.
The omission of certain material which may be observed, is either explained in the text by editorial notes, or is due to the misapprehension of writers whose papers were not consonant with the purposes of the Institute, or to a similarity of treatment of an assigned topic.
It does not follow that the publication of this Report involves plenary indorsement by the Committee, but rather a general approval and an expression of belief in its usefulness.
