The object of writing this book is to preserve a record of the doings of the Royal Canadian Regiment while on active service in South Africa. I hope it will be acceptable to the members of the Regiment. The general public may find it interesting, as they will be enabled to obtain a more consecutive idea of our movements and actions than they could possibly have gathered from disjointed newspaper reports published at the time.
