Your Historical Committee submits for your consideration this history of our beloved organization. The authors have endeavored to give, in a plain way, without exaggeration, the facts, and some of the incidents that made up the life of the regiment in its service of four years. The dates, places, and facts herein given, it is believed, can be relied upon.
Much credit is due the comrades and officers of our Regimental Association for the completeness of the work, and for the valuable assistance rendered in doing justice to the brave men of our regiment.
It is well to state, perhaps, that these pages are not intended to be a history in full of any of the battles or companies mentioned, or of the armies that took part in them, but, rather, the part that our own regiment took in them. This is intended solely as a regimental history.
