Excerpt from Stray Meditations
In the year 1852, the author on the eve of his departure on a tour of health, published a volume of "Stray Meditations," as a keepsake for the members of his church and congregation. The circumstances of the hour gave a somewhat personal tone to the fugitive pieces thus grouped together; yet he has reason to believe that they have proved a source of consolation even to strangers. A new edition being called for, he has eliminated from the book matters purely personal, and has added some pieces not contained in the first edition. And thus he commends it anew to "the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort."
The thoughts on "The Inalienable Possession," are now embodied in a separate tract.
