The revisal of this work for a second edition has afforded the opportunity for various corrections and alterations. The only fresh matter however of any importance, will be found in Part II. and at the conclusion of Part IV.
Part II. is greatly extended by a reference to additional facts, in support of the reasoning against the assumed influence of the monopoly of trade, and of the stimulus to increased production and consumption, arising out of the government expenditure during the war. At the conclusion of Part IV. I have given the substance of some information which has been communicated to me from a highly respectable quarter, relative to the great falling off in the produce of gold and silver in South America.
