Excerpt from This World So Wide
In the pages that follow I have printed for some of my friends the travel letters written by me during the early summer of 1922. They are abridged here and there but otherwise are only slightly changed.
I shelter myself behind good old Isaak Walton and say in his words; "I propose not the gaining of credit by this undertaking." May my readers "receive as much pleasure or profit by it as may make it worthy of their perusal if they be not too grave or too busy. And this is all the confidence that I can put on concerning the merit of what is here offered to their consideration and censure."
