The discourses which make up this volume have been delivered upon numerous occasions, and the oft repeated requests of sympathetic friends have led to their final appearance in the present form. The author has kept a record of the number of times several of them have been given, and in one case, at least, the figures run to over three hundred. He can only hope that the reception accorded by the readers of the book will be as kindly and sympathetic as the hearing given its subject matter when presented through the medium of the spoken word.
