It is his belief that in this work he has acquired views on various aspects of the relation of capital and labour, of production and consumption, of wealth and poverty, and of the rights and interests of the people individually and collectively, which vary sufficiently from opinions largely accepted by the general public to warrant their being brought into print for the purpose of furthering the material, the mental, and the moral progress of the community.
