He looked forward to gaining independence and experiencing adventures. He worked as a freighter pilot for a powerful firm that organized trips to distant planets. For every trip, he undertook the necessary diplomacy and hoped for a safe return. The stories are set in a distant future. He compared his experiences to his earthly conditions. After spending many hours in his spaceship, questions were raised. Everyone asked him about his trip. It all remained a conjecture which made him look further into the nature of his existence. Toon Mirahis (1930) grew up in the then Dutch East Indies. The beautiful nature of Sumatra and his close-knit family helped to shape him. He began writing at the age of ten and after his thirteenth birthday, he never stopped writing or reading. When he was thirty-five years old, he worked as a neurologist. After his retirement, he wrote this story for his children and friends. The questions that the protagonist of his book asks are recognizable for anyone. Sometimes, there are indeed answers to them.
