This general sketch of the Woollen and Worsted Industries is the first of its kind. Therefore there are sure to be some mistakes and omissions, though every effort has been made to make it accurate so far as it goes. But it is a sketch, not a fully finished picture. I shall be only too glad to receive criticisms and additional facts from any source.
I have received help from all sorts and conditions of men and from some women. Most of the manufacturers, merchants, trade unionists and others who have given me information prefer to remain anonymous.
