Excerpt from Transactions of the Worcester County Horticultural Society
To the Members of the
Worcester County Horticultural Society:
In presenting for your consideration the Annual Report of the proceedings of this Society, I am as well aware as yourselves that I am not qualified to wear the mantle that graced the Atlantean shoulders of our late Secretary, Edward Winslow Lincoln, who for thirty-four years prepared a report as no other man could have done.
I can only hope to tell you what the Society has been able to accomplish in the interest of Horticulture during the year that has passed, and give you in detail a report of the meetings which have been held.
The annual meeting of the Society was held Wednesday, November 4; President O. B. Hadwen presiding.
The first business was the election of the officers, a list of which will be found on the covers of the various publications of the Society. The reports of the Treasurer, Librarian and Secretary were read and referred to the Committee on Publication.
Voted, That there should be no charge of admission for members to the Chrysanthemum Show.
