To-day we issue the first volume of the "California Authors Series," and, as its name implies, it will be essentially a California literary enterprise. Our State is comparatively young, but as every young mother is particularly fond of her children, so are we especially proud of those who have added a ray to the scintillations of its own star in the blue field of u Old Glory," and those children it would now fain claim as its own.
