This book aims to present the essential truths of historic Christianity in orderly form, in nontechnical language, in view of, and in harmony with, those elements of the scientific and religious thought of today which are generally accepted by trained minds. It is intended primarily for use in classes for religious study in college, Young Men's Christian Association, Sunday school, and kindred organizations. It is the result of my experience and work with such classes and has been in process of preparation for more than six years.
It is hoped that it will be found useful to three classes of people. First are the young people who are in process of forming their conceptions of Christianity, and who, being in contact with the intellectual life of the age, must necessarily relate those conceptions to that which they are learning in the realms of history, sociology, and science.
