Excerpt from William Blake
The obligations I have incurred in the process of forming my estimate of Blake and preparing materials for this monograph are more numerous than I can name. In the first place, my friend Mrs. Sturge Henderson has given me the benefit of a rare critical ability and advanced my work in all its stages by her encouragement and advice. Then the exhibition of Blake's work, held at the Carfax Gallery in 1906, gave me exceptional facilities for a collective study of his masterpieces, and by the hospitable kindness of the proprietors I was enabled to avail myself of these in a singular degree. Mr. More Adey furthered my studies by placing his wide and accurate knowledge of Blake's technical processes completely at my disposal, and did me most generous service in assisting me to procure adequate illustration for the work.
