The following sketch has been prepared from a very limited amount of material. A few pages of manuscript, containing an account of the boyhood and early youth of the "Twin Brothers" together with some brief notes of their short career as private soldiers in the Confederate Army, during the first year of the war, to which was added the certificates and testimonials of officers and personal friends, as to their gallantry and heroism in the camp and in the field, formed the entire stock out of which the author has attempted to construct this little volume. He has therefore taken the liberty of weaving into the web of the narrative various facts and events of coincident history, and has even gone so far as to extend the line of remark to incidents which transpired at a later period of time than that embraced in the brief history of the immediate subjects of this memorial offering.
