The Primer is the authorized Book of Family and Private Prayer, for the laity of the Church. Its sources are of antiquity equal with that of the Book of Common Prayer; and it was revised and published by the Bishops at the Reformation, at the same time with that Book. It is the only book of Private Devotion which has received the sanction of the English Church.
