Excerpt from Tobacco Habit Easily Conquered: How to Do It Agreeably and Without Drugs; With Appendix: "Tobacco, the Destroyer"
This book just "had to come." My conscience wouldn't allow me to put off writing it any longer.
For many years 1 have trained men. My experience has been chiefly with the intelligent class; those who do - or at least aspire to do-things worth while. I have studied men, their good qualities and failings, very closely. In fact, my acquaintanceship with a man frequently brings me into more intimate touch with him than any other person can be. In the course of being brought "back to life" he has opportunities to think and converse about conditions which he cannot bring himself to discuss with his medical adviser, and which he feels reluctant to admit even to the closest members of his family.
There are several standard works which deal with the injuriousness of tobacco. Nearly all school physiology books warn against it; medical men - although in many cases themselves users - generally concede that tobacco is a poison to be seriously feared.
