Excerpt from Fields of Force: A Course of Lectures in Mathematical Physics Delivered December 1 to 23, 1905
On the seventeenth day of December nineteen hundred and four, Edward Dean Adams, of New York, established in Columbia University "The Ernest Kempton Adams Fund for Physical Research" as a memorial to his son, Ernest Kempton Adams, who received the degrees of Electrical Engineering in 1897 and Master of Arts in 1898, and who devoted his life to scientific research. The income of this fund is, by the terms of the deed of gift, to be devoted to the maintenance of a research fellowship and to the publication and distribution of the results of Scientific research on the part of the fellow.
