The following pages contain a full Outline of the Lectures which have been delivered to the Class of Military Surgery in this University for the last three-and-thirty years. The arrangement which I have followed in teaching this department of medical science is one altogether arbitrary; and without presuming to think that this, the first attempt, approached to any thing like perfection, I may be permitted to say, that it is an arrangement, which I have found satisfactory and convenient, in conducting the business if my course.
The first division of this course embraces numerous topics connected with the formation, discipline, and economy of armies, which, although not exclusively of a professional nature, are yet highly important to the health of the soldier.
