Excerpt from The Ambulance Surgeon, or Practical Observations on Gunshot Wounds
In offering this edition of Dr. Appia's "Ambulance Surgeon" to the profession, the editors have only to state that the translation is slightly condensed, and that a few details to be found elsewhere have been omitted.
They have added a chapter upon Disinfectants. It was originally intended to add a series of illustrations of Surgical Appliances. But being unwilling to make the book larger than absolutely necessary, they have for the present limited the last part to the dressing of wounds, hemorrhage, and some of the more common varieties of fracture.
