After the school committee of Boston had added to the course of study for the primary schools, a course in Manual Training, the author was summoned by the committee to give instruction to the primary teachers in the methods to be employed in teaching Modeling in Clay, Paper-cutting and Folding, Stick-laying, etc.
The line of instruction was in strict harmony with the course of study, and this book, which is the epitome of her instruction, is issued in response to the demands of many teachers.
