Together with a large number of Masters, Past Masters and Brethren, hailing from United Lodge, No. 29, Brighton; St. John's Lodge, No. 17, Cobourg; Strict Observance Lodge, No. 27, Hamilton; Consecon Lodge, No. 50, Consecon; Durham Lodge, No. 66, Newcastle; Colborne Lodge, No. 91, Colborne; Ontario Lodge, No. 26, Port Hope; Cedar Lodge, No. 270, Oshawa; Excelsior Lodge, No. 353, Colborne, Percy Lodge, No. 161, Warkworth; and others.
The Grand Lodge was opened in Ample Form at 2.30 p.m.
The M. W. the Grand Master stated that he had convened this Special Communication of the Grand Lodge for the purpose of laying the corner stone of the Methodist Episcopal Church about to be erected in Brighton.
A procession was then formed in the proper order, and marched to the site of the new building, which is situated on Main street, and but a short distance from the business portion of the flourisbing little village. While the procession was marching, a drizzling rain began to fall, and as soon as the Grand Officers had assembled around the stone, and the brethren formed in a circle outside, the rain increased until it fell in perfect torrents.
