Six years have elapsed since "The Laws of Short Whist" were, under the sanction and authority of "Nine" Clubs, introduced to the public: I then ventured to indulge in the hope that other Clubs would follow suit; that hope has been fully realized: the Laws have now been adopted by sixty-one, to whom I beg to return my sincere thanks.
