Excerpt from The Tombs of Ancient Egypt
In the following pages I do not pretend to have exhausted the subject of the Egyptian Tomb and its meaning. To do so would require far more space than is at my disposal. But I hope I may have succeeded in interesting those who have perhaps themselves visited the tombs, or have read of them, and desire to know something of the meaning to be attached to the remarkable paintings and sculptures found in them. Numberless are the questions that a consideration of the Tomb gives rise to, and I hope that other Members of "The Scarab Club" will deal with some of them in a future number of the Club"s "Papers".
