О книге

To those dear readers who care to know about this little volume, it has to do with a Christmas carol. The Fallowfield Carol was composed in the Sixteenth Century and lost, then discovered in the Nineteenth Century, and promptly lost again. The search for it is taken up in the Twenty-first Century, meaning something eventful happens to this carol an average of once every two-and-a-half centuries. It all started with three letters from 1876, by one Captain Eliam M. Wiggin of Thidge Point, who found and then lost the thing. His great-grandson, Wynslowe Wiggin, is getting to be an old man nowa€"a curmudgeon with redeeming features, but little to show for his eighty-one years. So Mr. Wiggin determines to retrace his great-grandfather"s steps and recover the carol, while he"s still able. Only, he"s decrepit, so he conscripts his younger and correspondingly less curmudgeonly neighbor, Oliver Clarke, into his cause. It goes from there. The Fallowfield Carol is a not-at-all-serious Christmas caper and a throwback to the Nineteenth Century novels like Dickens" The Pickwick Papers, only not as good as that. But it has pictures. Part humor, part mystery, part history, part Anglophilia, and altogether good Christmas fun. Это и многое другое вы найдете в книге The Fallowfield Carol
