Henry Chapman Mercer (1856-1930), Pennsylvania archaeologist, artifact collector, and craftsman, investigated a strange Lenape artifact that appeared to show both humans and a mammoth. He shared the results of his study, including a survey of other possible representations of mammoth-like creatures from around the world, in this book.
